AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
