The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 Wherein they will abide for ever; 3 And that it may warn those who say: "God has begotten a son." 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 5 Thou wouldst only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message. 6 Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e. those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allah's sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet SAW]. 7 and We shall surely make all that is on it barren dust. 8 Do you think that the Men of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? 9 When the young men fled for refuge to the Cave and said: Our Lord! Give us mercy from Thy presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight. 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried! 12
