Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
