Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
