The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the mount. 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
