The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In parchment spread open 3 by the House inhabited 4 and the roof uplifted 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
