The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount; 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
