So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time? 30 Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters." 31 Does their reason tell them to say this or is it because they are a rebellious people? 32 Do they say: 'He has invented it' No, they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Or, has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep. 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
