The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 near which is Paradise. 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
