The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
