HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
