Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This (Muhammad SAW) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
