Seest thou one who turns back, 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
