Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
