We initiated your creation, then We gave you each a shape, and then We said to the angels: 'Prostrate before Adam.' They all prostrated except Iblis: he was not one of those who fell prostrate. 11 Said He, 'What prevented thee to bow thyself, when I commanded thee?' Said he, 'I am better than he; Thou createdst me of fire, and him Thou createdst of clay.' 12 He (Allah) said: 'Descend from it! This is no place for you to be proud. Begone, you are of the humiliated' 13 He said: Respite me until the day when they are raised up. 14 Allah said: verily thou art of the respited. 15 "Since You led me into error," said Iblis, "I shall lie in wait for them along Your straight path. 16 “Then I will certainly approach them – from their front and from behind them and from their right and from their left; and You will find most of them not thankful.” 17 (Allah) said: "Get out from this, disgraced and expelled. If any of them follow thee,- Hell will I fill with you all. 18 'O Adam dwell with your wife in Paradise, and eat from whatever you please; but never approach this tree or you shall both become harmdoers' 19 But Satan made an evil suggestion to both of them that he might reveal to them their shame that had remained hidden from them. He said: 'Your Lord has forbidden you to approach this tree only to prevent you from becoming angels or immortals.' 20 And he [Shaitan (Satan)] swore by Allah to them both (saying): "Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both." 21 Thus he cunningly seduced them. When they tasted the tree's fruit, their nakedness became exposed to them and they started covering themselves with the leaves of the garden. Their Lord called out to them, "Did I not forbid you to approach that tree, and did I not say to you that Satan was surely your open enemy?" 22 They said: "O our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we shall certainly be lost." 23 He said, “Go down, one of you is a foe unto the other; and for a fixed time you shall stay on earth and feed in it.” 24 He said, "Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth." 25
