The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
