Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 And orchards and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
