So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)? 37 Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 40 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Do they have any god other than Allah? Exalted be Allah above whatever they associate (with Him in His Divinity). 43 If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: "It is only a massive cloud." 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise, 48 And proclaim His Purity during the night, and when the stars turn back. 49
