The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
