He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
