Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he could not scale the steep ascent. 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 (It is) the freeing of a slave, 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 to an orphaned relative 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
