Nay, by the Moon 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 Warn the men. 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 about the sinners. 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
