The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
