The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
