The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
