The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
