Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a lofty garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
