The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
