Seest thou one who turns back, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 while you make merry? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
