The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
