The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
