The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
