The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
