The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 Say: "My Sustainer knows whatever is spoken in heaven and on earth; and He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing." 4 Nay, they say:"These (revelations of the Quran which are inspired to Muhammad SAW) are mixed up false dreams! Nay, he has invented it! Nay, he is a poet! Let him then bring us an Ayah (sign as a proof) like the ones (Prophets) that were sent before (with signs)!" 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
