The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
