WHAT, THEN, is amiss with such as are bent on denying the truth, that they run about confusedly to and fro before thee, 36 On the right and on the left, in companies? 37 Coveteth every man of them, that he shall enter the Garden of Delight? 38 Nay, verily. We created them from what they know. 39 So I swear by the Lord of every East and every West, that We are indeed Able. 40 to replace them with [people] better than they are; for there is nothing to prevent Us [from doing what We will]. 41 Hence, leave them to indulge in idle talk and play [with words] until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs which they have been promised 42 The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening. 43 with downcast eyes, with ignominy overwhelming them: that Day which they were promised again and again 44
