The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
