The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
