The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
