He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
