The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
