The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
