Samood rejected the warning. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
