The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
