Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 And you cannot escape in the earth, and you shall not have a guardian or a helper besides Allah. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea like landmarks. 32 He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 who refrain from heinous sins and gross indecencies; who forgive when they are angry; 37 And those who have responded to their lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend. 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 The way of blame is only against those who wrong mankind, and rebel in the earth without justice; these! for them is a torment afflictive. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
