The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
