The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
