Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
