The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
