The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
